Honoring our Angel

November 18th marked the one year Angel-versary for our daughter, Madison. To honor our angel we invited family and friends to our home for dinner and to release lanterns. I was overwhelmed with emotion as we watched our lantern drift up into the heavens, it was a beautiful tribute.

Guests received candles to take home to light through the night, it was so heart warming to know that the candles were lit in our family and friends homes to remember Madison and to keep her spirit alive.

Lessons From the Road

1) My husband is an expert at eating sunflower seeds. Almost squirrel like he stored a hand full of seeds in his cheek, cracked, chewed and spit the shells into an empty Krystal box for hours at a time. After knowing this man for eight years I never knew he had this talent. He attempted to explain the seed eating process to me, but I'm just not that coordinated. Along with lobster, shrimp and other nuts I just don't see the point of all of the effort it takes to get to a piece of meat or a nut so small. His lovely "spit box" 2) Hotel hair dryers are not normal. No matter where you are. Even at the nicest hotels they still manage to frizz and fry. Don't get me wrong I never leave home without my own personal hairdryer but for some reason I always want to try that cute little convenient one mounted to the wall. Our Panama City Beach Vacation

For the second year in a row we have had the pleasure of joining the McClung Family on vacation to their Panama City Beach Condo during forth of July week. It was so nice to get away for the week and enjoy the beach with our close friends (and our neighboors!) We are so lucky to have made such good friends right next door! Mason's Birth Story

March 13, 2014: Even though we knew that I was going in at 5:00 am the next morning for a scheduled c-section, the day couldn't come fast enough. It had been a long nine months and we could not wait to meet our baby boy. The night before the big day, Mike and I ate an early dinner at Outback Steakhouse since we knew it was going to be the last good "going out to dinner" we would have in a few days, or possibly weeks. We went home, packed for the hospital, loaded the car and tried to relax. We got a few hours of sleep the night before, maybe 2-3 to be exact but we were running on adrenaline at that point. March 14, 2014, 3:30 am: The morning the alarms rang loud and clear! Time to go. We hopped in the car and drove straight to Northside Hospital, check in was a breeze and before we knew it I was in a hospital gown getting prepped for surgery.
